Job Responsibilities Technical Accounting (50%)

– Provide technical accounting support for complex accounting issues, which includes, but is not limited to, Revenue, financial instruments, share based payment transactions, employee benefits, etc.
– Conduct and document research of accounting transactions to conclude on the appropriate application of IFRS.
– Oversee the preparation of the cashflow statement.
– Monitor IASB activities to identify any potential impact of new pronouncements and prepare technical accounting policies on a bi-annual basis.
– Assist with various special projects as needed.
– Acknowledge and communicate promptly with business on Technical Accounting issues.
– Research technical accounting queries in order to provide business with proper accounting advice.
– Document material technical accounting issues with minimum rework.
– Share technical accounting developments with business.
– Review material contracts and communicate identified issues to the Executive.
– Present IFRS training to the Business Units and subsidiaries.
– Assist business in the formulation of accounting policies and procedures that are uploaded into the finance portal.
– Organize annual accounting updates workshops.

Statutory reporting (30%)

– Review Monthly Interim and Annual company financial statements for compliance with IFRS, Companies Act, JSE listing requirements.
– Assist the Executive Financial Accounting and Reporting with the Annual and Interim audit including responding to information requests from external and internal audit team.
– Build relationships with relevant stakeholders by building and managing internal and external customer relationships
– Obtain required information from key role players
– Monthly/ Interim and Annual Financial statements
– Review and approve the Company and Group Cashflow statement.
– Review and approve the Actuarial Accounting entries and Assumptions.
– Review and approve the IFRS 9;15 and 16 Accounting entries.
– Develop group financial accounting policies in compliance with IFRS.
– Review financial statements for compliance with IFRS.
– Complete IFRS disclosure checklist for interim and year end periods.
– Ad hoc duties as and when required.

People Leadership (20%)

– Provide coaching and relevant training to Trainee Accountants.
– Review tasks performed by junior staff and provide assistance.

Required Certification Registration with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)
Qualifications Chartered Accountant (CA SA) (NQF level 8)
Experience 7 years relevant experience, of which 5 years should preferably be post articles and 2 years must preferably be in a statutory reporting role.
